    Some Stats to Consider

For the heck of it, I have some of the more advanced guys from the high minors shown in the table below. It looks to me like we seriously undervalue Adam Rosales, and Danny Dorn may be ready by mid-season. This team could have a couple options that could help w/o waiting for Alonso/Frazier/Soto/Francisco to arrive. I included some of the current players minor league numbers for some perspective.

    Code:
Name Age	AB	BA	OBP	SLG	OPS
    Adam Rosales 25	1553	0.285	0.360	0.484	0.844
    Chris Valaika 23	1306	0.306	0.357	0.467	0.824
    Justin Turner 24	1133	0.310	0.377	0.445	0.822
    Paul Janish 26	1703	0.261	0.351	0.382	0.733

    Jeff Keppinger N/A	2183	0.322	0.375	0.422	0.797
    Edwin Encarnacion	N/A	2423	0.291	0.352	0.451	0.803
    Brandon Phillips	N/A	2755	0.274	0.339	0.418	0.757
    Alex Gonzalez N/A	1234	0.267	0.320	0.414	0.734

    Ryan Freel N/A	2769	0.269	0.360	0.397	0.757
    Joey Votto N/A	2553	0.289	0.385	0.476	0.861
    Jay Bruce N/A	1341	0.308	0.366	0.555	0.921
    Chris Dickerson N/A	2202	0.260	0.363	0.415	0.778
    Norris Hopper N/A	3431	0.289	0.343	0.335	0.678

    Danny Dorn 24	990	0.297	0.387	0.528	0.915
    Sean Henry 23	1512	0.280	0.355	0.444	0.799
    Drew Stubbs 24	1177	0.269	0.367	0.415	0.782
    Shaun Cumberland	24	2241	0.270	0.331	0.400	0.731
    Chris Heisey 24	1174	0.292	0.366	0.435	0.801

Well Danny Dorn and Adam Rosales should be on the team. Other than that I don't see much to get pumped up about this year in terms of guys coming up.

If Edwin were to move to left, Dorn would make a real nice platoon mate.

I don't think that Dorn is on the team and Rosales is pretty iffy.

I'd be shocked if Dorn makes the team this year. Maybe a callup with a good season. Rosales depends on who they keep as far roster makeup, whether Hairston signs, Freel's healthy, Richar and Kepp aren't traded and are healthy etc.

Huh, what was the point of your initial post then? Or did I just miss something here?

My point is that maybe they should be considered instead of trading a bunch of stuff for corner players. My second post was in response to a poster who seemed to suggest that those guys being on the roster was a foregone conclusion. I don't think the organization agrees.

I think the team is going to deal a lot of its flexability in pursuit of corner players when the team already has them coming out its ears. What will be left to address the real needs up the middle or in the rotation?

I guess that depends on your definition of should. If you think should means that it will defiantly happen then sure. I have a different definition in mind.

In the scenario that you proposed with the players that you provided I picked two that I thought should be on the team above the rest of the provided players.

Ok then I sort of agree with you. Here's the thing though it's not the position it's the bat they would be paying for. The most generous expectations don't give us a true 3-4-5 hitter currently. I know there are other ways to go about it and I would if at all possible. But I think the organization is determined to make a deal for that bat.

I agree with you. No problems. I thought you were saying that it was a done deal.

Guess I need less Redszone and more sleep.
