    doing a little basic math....

and I'm sure this has been discussed at length but I can't recall....I'm pulling for Weathers to re-up but assuming everyone comes out of the spring healthy and that they go with a 7 man pen it kinda looks set to me already.

Cordero, Burton, Bray, Lincoln, Masset, Weathers, and some yet to be determined lefty. No Roenicke...no Owings(unless he starts)...probably no Herrera(don't see him being the 2nd lefty)...etc..etc..

Looks alot like last year( depending on the new lefty) and I'm kinda comfortable with that I think as long as the starters can get a little deeper into the games...

    thoughts?

I want no part of Weathers. Relievers are pyrite and we shouldn't allow ourselves to become attached to them, especially not those who are approaching 40 years of age and have had less than stellar peripherals over the last couple of years.

We'd be much better off with Ramirez or Owings for extended work and no Weathers.

Rhodes looks like he might be that "yet to be determined lefty."

I think you're right. If Rhodes becomes the other lefty, Weathers has accepted arbitration, so our 'pen would be full.
That makes the fight for the 5th starter spot even more compelling...there'll be no long reliever role for the loser, he'll go straight back to AAA.
