patton is a good pickup IMO. He could bolster the bullpen quite a bit. His K/9 rate has been exceptional since he was converted into a reliever. The only bad thing about him is that he has not pitched over A+, but who knows, he doesn't appear to have control issues and he is just 2 years removed from an absolutely dominant 2006 and he wasn't bad at all this past season. He just gives up too many hits.

    Agree.

Creates depth in the bullpen for better, more informed March roster decisions.

    I'm all for it.

Francisco Lizarraga is a middle infielder that hasn't done much offensively. so probably a defensive backup player.

i can't see patton on the reds especially with no room now that we have rhodes. which means walt will have to work out a trade with colorado.

Rosecrans says Patton is already gone:

Leatherpants is building his perfect ex-Red team by selecting right-hander Terrell Young with the first pick in the Rule 5 draft. Young was 1-2 with a 2.41 ERA for Class A Sarasota last season, where he pitched out of the bullpen. He certainly has a big arm and has done well since moving to the pen.

Also, the Reds selected RHP Dave Pattonof the Rockies, but he will be traded to the Cubs.

And Ken Rosenthal reports Arthur Rhodes is close to accepting the Reds' offer. That sures up the left-handed part of the bullpen.

Per ESPN.com, Cubs get Patton for cash considerations.
