Re: Who is Redszone's #28 prospect?

I'll go with Evan Hildenbrandt at #28. He's only 19 years old and throws in the low 90's with room to add more, and he mixes in a very good curveball and he's working on a changeup. He put up good numbers in the GCL last season (57.1 IP, 16 BB/56 K, 2.67 ERA) and should be ready for Dayton in 2009. He doesn't have the potential of fellow Canadian Kyle Lotzkar, but he's a solid prospect.

Its time for Robert Manuel. He has stuff that will translate to the majors (albeit not good enough to put up the ridiculous numbers he did this year, but no one is going to put up that line), great control and is close/advanced.

    What he said.

Plus, I gotta figure Canadians have a lot of upside. Sort of like Horst and the North Dakota thing.

The control is what sticks out for me as well. IMO, the finer control required to pitch successfully to ML hitters is a big hurdle he will not need to overcome.

Re: Who is Redszone's #28 prospect?

I had it up between two potential late round steals who, I believe, were signed for over slot and are similar in make up, Hildenbrandt and JCS. What puts Hildenbrandt over the top is he has actually performed well so far in pro ball while JCS hasn't pitched yet.

I've been voting Hildenbrandt since about #12 so no reason to change. I think he will surprise RZers big time either this year or next.

I'll be leaving the next few polls open an extra day since traffic on here will be slowing down for the holidays.
