The most important question re: adding Willy Taveras to the Reds...

    What number will he wear?

    I'm guessing #3

Griffey's no longer using it, so it clears the path of greatness for our new CF (who will just happen to bat leadoff, too!) Willy Taveras.

The only reason I ask, is b/c I wanna be the first kid in my neighborhood to own a Willy Taveras jersey!

I had wondered about the same thing because Taveras has worn number 3 in the past. Personally, I'd rather they wait a few years before it is re-issued. The Reds certainly issued number 30 quickly enough after Griffey changed.

If Taveras does wear #3, it would be similar to Norris Hopper wearing #30 after Griffey switched to #3...

Maybe he can wear #26 for where he ranked in OBP among the top 30 Centerfielders by PA? I know its Wilkin Castillo's 'number' but I think someone might have a little more pull.

Actually, they issued it to Quinton McCracken before Hopper. It looked so odd to see the squat McCracken wearing the number.

The Reds have unofficially retired a few number in the past, and I think they should do it again with #3.

I remember the Reds issued Dick Simpson the same number Frank Robinson wore (#20) in 1966. That was totally wrong in my young (at the time) mind.

Why would the Reds retire #3? Jr.'s time in Cincy wasn't exactly worthy of such distinction. His best years were in #30 with the Reds anyway.

Hey atleast we made the right choice in keeping Q-Crack over Cody Ross.

At least Ross is still in baseball...

    What's McCracken doing these days?
