I almost went for him--he really broke out this year--but I went for Thurman because he already seems so advanced for his age.

Craig Tatum could surprise this year.

and I think he has a cool name for some reason.

Shunick for me. The guy was a high draft pick and a very good college pitcher. He was tired by the time he pitched for the Reds. Tyler Stovall said he believed Shunick was the big sleeper for next year.

I see Shunick winding up as a reliever, but Tyler is right. Shunick has some pretty good stuff (albeit it was better in college than it was in Billings, but like you noted, he was pretty tired by the time he got to Billings). If he can keep his GB numbers where they were in Billings, he could be a breakout guy next season.

I'm going Alex Smit or bust at #40. Smit had a monster year in 2006 before Minnesota released him. Last season his walk rate was too high for my liking in Sarasota, but he gave up fewer than a hit per inning and he was also able to K quite a few hitters. If his control improves he could be another interesting lefty at AA.

I went with Valequette. I have read a couple reports on him, and he seems to have great stuff. How that projects, I'm not entirely sure. Still, he has much more potential right now than anyone else on the list, IMHO.
If you can't build a winning team with that core a fire-sale isn't the solution. Selling the franchise, moving them to Nashville and converting GABP into a used car lot is.

I have not given up on Janish. He is the closest thing to a ML SS between Gonzo and Cozart. I give him about the same chance that I would have given Dickerson at this time last year.
