It's important to remember these guys aren't putting together a real baseball team, it's a Diamond Mind team, which means the players have a pre-determined set of abilities based on last year's statistics. I don't know the Diamond Mind player ratings, but I can tell you in Strat he's got a fairly poor card.
If this were Strat, Buster Olney is housing everyone else. In fact, I'm getting the distinct impression he's the only one who studied the Diamond Mind player counts. Maybe Neyer did, but he's building a team for a season rather than a short series.
