I see my man is out to a commanding lead.

Thanks for the adds. Can you tell us anything about Chiu?

Chui has battled injuries since the Reds signed him. He is currently rehabbing in Sarasota from surgery he had in August.

The Cincinnati Reds were able to break into the Taiwanese market by signing 19 year LHP Tzu-Kai Chiu. Chiu received an estimated $200,000 signing bonus + additional money for his education. Chiu stands around 6'0" tall and weighs close to 200 pounds. Chiu has been on the MLB radar for quite some time now - refer to this Jan. '06 post to read more about Chiu. Chiu is currently in his first year of college but will be heading to the US shortly for a physical. Chiu throws comfortably in the 85 to 87 mph range with touches of 89 mph on his fastball - Chiu's best pitch is his curveball. Congrats to Chiu!

Yeah, so as you can see, Chiu is a lefty with very good control who battled injury last year, despite his solid mechanics. He can throw five pitches for strikes, but I'd imagine he'll be ditching one or two of those to focus on his better pitches. He can dial it up to 89, but he's typically in the mid-80s. His curveball is clearly his best pitch, which you can see in the video above. He's really flying under the radar as a result of throwing only four innings last season. I'm trying not to hype him up too much because he was having slight shoulder inflammation, but the Reds weren't too concerned about it. I heard someone in the Reds organization say Chiu needs to stick to his training regimen, but I was too nervous to ask if he meant to imply that Chiu had strayed from his training schedule. It sounds like he might be shy and overly-dependent on his translator, but I believe the Reds, per Chiu's contract, won't be paying for a translator this season. I'm pretty sure we'll see him in Dayton this year, but his shoulder health might determine whether he starts the year in Dayton or joins them later on.

He opted to leave as a six-year minor league free agent. I don't know where he went, but I know that he's no longer in the system.

Is there a timeline for this poll to close? It looks like we should have a run-off between Mace Thurman and Logan Parker.

Yeah, I think we're done. The interest waned quite a bit. Spring training has started, so I think everyone is more focused on other baseball things.

I hate to sound like Monk, but 41 is such a ragged number. I suggest we declare Thurman #42 and then hold one last vote on the players remaining on the list. Each Redzoner should vote for 8 players from the list in no particular order. The player with the most votes overall becomes #43 and so on. Don't try to break any resulting ties.

Well, how I see it is that the #42 vote is inconclusive, and we can just call it 'RedsZone's Top 40 (+1)'.
