    Yanks sign former Reds pitcher

    Yankees add pitcher Brett Tomko
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Right-hander Brett Tomko was a late addition to the New York Yankees’ spring training camp, agreeing Friday to a minor league contract as pitchers and catchers reported.
The 35-year-old was 2-7 with a 6.97 ERA last season in 10 starts and six relief appearances for Kansas City. The Royals designated him for assignment on June 12 and put him on waivers nine days later.
He signed with San Diego on June 27, his third stint with the Padres, but went on the disabled list July 1 with a strained right elbow after making just two relief appearances. San Diego activated him on Aug. 19 and he made four relief appearances before being released Sept. 4.
Tomko has a 95-99 record with two saves and a 4.68 ERA in 368 appearances over 12 major league seasons. He was assigned No. 53.

Wow. I could see him handling the stress of NYC well.

Be nice to see Tomko get to 100 career wins. Not sure why.

Because he would be the first pitcher drafted and signed by the Reds to reach that milestone since Tom Browning was drafted in 1982. That would make only these two plus Charlie Liebrandt, Milt Wilcox, Gary Nolan and Don Gullett to have reached that level since the draft began. That's very sad.
