Any interest in any of these guys? Could Frank Thomas compete with Ward for that pinch hitter with pop role (plus could get some ab's against lefties)? If Mulder would be willing to take the min. and start in AAA would you take a chance? Chad Cordero? He could be usefull, it's too bad the reds signed weathers as I'd rather have chad. Juan Cruz? Not until after the draft as you'd have to give up picks.

Nomar? Could be another bench option, and insurance incase EE or Joey get hurt.

The budget wouldn't allow for most of those guys. Not Fringe enough.

Semi-surprised, though, that Walt didn't go after Edmonds.
I'm not cool enough to have a good signature

Orlando Hudson and Garrett Anderson seem good to me if we cold get them for cheap, Garett Anderson/Gomes in outfield, hudson at second with phillips at short

I'd like Juan Cruz, even if we had to give up a draft pick to get him.

Some may wait to see if a team has a need for them mid-season due to an injury.

If Frank Thomas does retire I wonder if we'll see him, Kent, and Maddux all elected to the HOF on the 1st ballot in the same year. I'd vote for the Big Hurt but the dropoff in his mid 30's (partly injuries) and the fact he was a dh will probably hurt his chances.

    what's a "B-Rob" ?!!?

I think that in a year or two, one of these guys - Frazier, Dorn, Valaika, Cumberland, Stubbs - will be ready to replace Dunn. They won't hit as many home runs as Dunn, but they should have similar OPS. - 757690, July 22, 2008

Alonso will be playing 1B for the REDS and batting 4th one year from today. - Kingspoint, July 9, 2009

I would assume that is coming from a Baltimore fan and they are talking about signing and trading Brian Roberts.

this question is obviously hypothetical. But, if you had 10 mill to spend for 1 year of service; would u rather have adam dunn or MIlton Bradley?

Honestly, Manny would pay for himself if the Reds signed him.
