    Hey, it's a family site.

I had that album for years and never noticed the album cover until a girl I was dating pointed it out to me. I mean the "material" that makes up the picture frame. It was leaning on the wall and she noticed it immediately upon entering the room.
I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

I used to listen to that in high school all the time. Wasn't it the soundtrack to a documentary or something?

Exactly, he made a movie/documentary in Africa after the Police broke up. It was horrible but got some publicity because he was still riding Police fame at the time.

FWIW he is also "Klark Kent" in the other album I named. That music is strange too although nothing like the Rhythmatist. Andy Summers solo work was bizarre as well.

That's it. It was kind of a cool album. There was one part where he sort of narrates over the music and talks about the sounds of the Serengeti Plains being "belching and farting" which, to high school kids, was endlessly entertaining.

I remember owning an album by a group called "klaatu" back in high school. They had a song called "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft"--pretty spacey. The members of the group were supposed to be a mystery, just a gaggle of studio musicians who recorded but didn't tour?

    That's a Carpenters song.

Check out Philip DeGruy who's kind of from that same Phil Keagy/Lenny Breau vein. He has a great medley of Jobim's "Wave" and "When the Saints go Marching In."

His version of "If I Only Had a Brain" is rife with whimsy.

I had that album as well as their next three albums, Hope, Sir Army Suit and Endangered Species. Hope was very cool.

Isn't Klaatu the first word Bruce Campbell says to release the undead in Army of Darkness?

Maybe but klaatu barada nikto was some kind of command to the robot in The Day the Earth Stood Still.
