Power rankings show the relative strength of teams, not considering the division and league they will play in.

This is interesting. IMO the NL Central is very weak this year other than the Cubs (and even they have the potential for problems due to fragile health of guys like Bradley & Harden). The Cards hopes rest on Carpenter who hasn't won a game in 2 years. If he can't get it done their #2 starter is ... Lohse.
The Brewers have offense but their pitching is weaker.
The astros are getting worse. They have Berkmann, Lee, Oswalt & pray for rain.

The Dodgers are only going to win 82 games in the NL West? Way off, IMO. They're going to run away and hide in that division.

How many pre-season standings projected the Rays to win last year?

I don't buy into these a lot because one or more players on a team could flop or catch fire and change these tings A TON.

PECOTA had them winning 92 games IIRC but not winning their division. I wouldn't focus so much on the standings or records for that matter as I would Runs Scored and Runs Allowed...

Why are the Tigers going to be so good, according to CHONE?

Why does Chone Figgins have his own ranking system and why do we care?

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

Because Chone Figgins is one heck of a baseball name.

Shoot, those rankings don't think much of the entire NL. I doubt the 6th best AL team is better than the best NL team. The NL Central is notoriously under ranked going into a year. Same was true last year yet they did have two entries into the post season

It helps when one of the teams add C.C. Sabathia...

The Reds are the 6th best team in the NL "on paper/computer" ?

    Better than the Dodgers?

I mean, I'll take that, but it is somewhat suprising.

    Re: 2009 CHONE Projected Standings

Dodgers have two-fifths of a rotation and no Manny to supplement a weak offense.

    They have questions.

(Of course, I fully expect Manny to re-sign and LA to be a 90-win team, as he's truly, IMO, a five-win player. Or at least was in LA last season.)

Yep. 'course they could possible only win 82 games and still do that....
