Maybe the outfielders should spend less time learning how to field bunts and more time doing things that may realistically pay dividends ... like ... learning how to avoid getting picked off first base.

To be fair, from the sounds of things, Romero has a great pickoff move. And Votto's never struck me as a poor (non-smart) baserunner.

That happened back in early December, I believe. Here are a few other AAAA players signed this off season:
    Kevin Barker (re-signed)
    Darnell McDonald
    Humberto Cota
    Wes Bankston
    Jacque Jones
    Laynce Nix
    Daryle Ward
    Luis Bolivar (re-signed)
    Norris Hopper (re-signed)
    Adam Pettyjohn (re-signed)
Ben Davis (but will report to GCL as a pitcher)
    Aaron Fultz
    Jeff Kennard
    David Shafer

The Reds sure are stocked on fringe outfielders. We wouldn't want the top outfield prospects getting playing time, would we? Thanks, Walt!

    Re: 2//27/09 Reds vs Phillies

Barker, Rosales, Castillo for the Reds bottom half of the 7th.

Throwing error, Barker to third, Rosales to second. (I missed how Barker got on)
    Castillo k's
McDonald intentionally walked (the announcers are laughing at the IBB on McDonald)
Bolivar line drive double right at thirdbaseman & eats him up. Barker & Rosales score. 8-3 Reds
Hanigan singles to left. 10-3 Reds as McDonald & Bolivar score.

Pitching change. Man, I should do play by play more often. :O)

    Borkowski in.

    Ward K's
    Hopper grounds out to Giles.

    10-3 Redlegs after 7.

Are there particular outfield prospects that you think will sit (or not move up) because they gave minor league deals to some of these folks? Just because they're getting a look see doesn't mean they'll get playing time over prospects.

Good point. And not to mention the fact of the longer spring and the players leaving for the WBC. I've got no problem with the extra signees

Danny Ray Herrera in for the 8th.

3 pitch K on Giles for Herrera
    Velandia grounder to Rosales
    Hoover tapped grounder to Hanigan

7 pitch inning for Herrera. I like it. :O)

Wow, I go into a meeting and the Reds offense has a field day by eating up Phillies pitching. I should go into meetings during games this whole season, LOL

Is this offense going to be so all or nothing all season?! They couldn't do anything yesterday and are very much wide awake today. That's going to make for some heart stopping games, LOL

Viola pitched the 9th. Great outings by Herrera, Thompson, and Viola.
    I miss Adam Dunn.

I'm rooting for Luis Bolivar to get a cup of coffee someday.
