Welsh's seems to have been an 8th inning shot off the Phillies' Don Carman in a game which the Reds led 6-0 at the time (final score: 7-2.) That eliminates pretty much all my guesses.

TC is often mentioned as a pitcher who hit 2 grand-slam homers in one game. That was in 1966 when he was with Atlanta. Is that his connection?

Nope. Here's a hint: pitchers aren't known for hitting homeruns. What is another stat pitchers aren't known for having?

It's not stolen bases. Several other Reds pitchers have had a few stolen bases.

Is it the Reds that are obscure or the trivia?

    SB and HR?
More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.

Yeah, all three have gotten both in the same season. That's probably the most meaningful stat you'll ever hear.

    OK

Bob Bescher, Sam Bohne, Eddie Milner, and Paul O'Neill are the only Reds to ever accomplish what feat?

Let me know if I start to get warm.
Three of them are from Ohio.
Three of them played in New York.
Bohne and Bescher were traded for each other.
They all had a penchant for getting caught stealing.

They were the only Reds to break up a no-hitter with two out in the ninth?
