Re: Official 2009 Redszone NFL Mock Draft:

The New Orleans Saints are happy to announce that with the 14th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft we select Brian Cushing - OLB from Southern California.

After we resigned Jonathon Vilma, signed Jabari Greer, and will get Tracy Porter and Mike MacKenzie back from injury we feel our most pressing need is to get a athletic OLB who can help against both the run and pass.

It wouldn't be hard to make a 12 hour rule on these things. Hopefully, I'll be able to pick before Baltimore actually does in late April.

    hmmm, Cushing over Rey?

use Rey as a MLB and use Vilma at weakside. That would likely work. Cushing strikes me as a David Pollack type.

Re: Official 2009 Redszone NFL Mock Draft:

With the 16th pick in the 2009 NFL Player Draft, The San Diego Chargers select:

    Rey Maualuga, MLB, USC
    6-1, 249, 4.82

    http://www.draftcountdown.com/scouti...y-Maualuga.php

Rey was effective in college because he was surrounded by play makers who could make up for his over aggressive style. He now comes to a defense where he is once again surrounded by play makers such as, Shawne Merriman, Shaun Phillips, Antonio Cromartie, and Jamal Williams. He will bring a physicality to the middle of our 3-4 defense that was lacking with Steven Cooper and Tim Dobbens at middle linebacker.

    Other candidates were:
    Jeremy Maclin
    Tyson Jackson
    Andre Smith
    Knowshon Moreno

I was hoping maualuga would fall to the Bears at 18, they need a replacement for Urlacher pretty badly. He is starting to age horribly.

With the Jets having few obvious holes, the Jets are in the position to take a gamble, therefore selecting Pat White, QB, West Virginia.

He proved to be one of the elite athletes in this draft class during the combine. With the Wildcat being a relevant option today, White could turn into a big time playmaker, especially when you consider he has a chance to be a good receiver too.

    Draft Fail

How bad do you think the Jets fans would boo after that one?

Re: Official 2009 Redszone NFL Mock Draft:

The Jets would've been all over Jeremy Maclin in that spot. They need a receiver and most mocks have Maclin going much higher than 17.
