    Who will win the 2009 World Baseball Classic?

    I'm picking the Dominican Republic. Even though some of their top players aren't playing (Pujols, Manny, Ervin Santana, Vlad Guerrero), they are still stacked.

    I'll be rooting for the USA but I think the Dominican team will win it all.

    Hopefully all the Reds players stay healthy and have strong showings.

    ... the team with the best Pyt

    ... the team that wins the most games?

    ... the team that has the best RS/RA difference?

    I'm going with the "it means the most to them" angle and picking Cuba. I couldn't name a single player on their roster so take it fwiw.

    Watch for Yulieski Gourriel of Cuba. He's one of the most talented players in the tournament. Scouts think he could be a star if he ever makes it to the US.

    Arms = Advantage DR

    Catchers = Advantage USA

    Infielders = Advantage DR (almost a push)

    Outfielders = big Advantage USA (mainly b/c of age and overall lack of talent for the DR... T-Virus, he's infecting teams worldwide!!!, and Mr. Pees on His Hands...)

    So, even though Team USA has a much better OF and Backstops, and arguably an equal IF, the DR arms just trump Team USA overall, IMO.

    I'd have to go with Japan for the repeat. I would like to see the USA win this time, but their pitching staff isn't the greatest. Also, it appears that Edinson in the staff ace for the DR. I would not count out Korea either.

    I'm picking a dark horse, just for the fun of it. Canada, with Joey Votto leading the charge. The team will "do-right" and take it all.

    A team that doesn't have Reds players on them.

    I want them back in camp focusing on the baseball that really matters.

    I picked the DR for the poll but I like your answer much better, LOL

    Re: Who will win the 2009 World Baseball Classic?

    I picked Japan, but I hadn't seen the entire USA roster until today.

    Our boys pack some serious thunder, a much more well rounded roster than last time.

    Don't forget Davey Johnson will be at the helm this time around.

    It's gonna be fun to watch, and anyone that loves Baseball can't deny that.
