Hopper was originally in the leadoff slot but he was replaced by McDonald.

    From Mark Sheldon.

Hopper didn't make the trip but I haven't learned why, yet. Darnell McDonald was inserted into the leadoff spot.

If Russ Ortiz hasn't gotten any better as a pitcher than when I last saw him with the Orioles (when he was beyond bad), then even the B lineup for the Reds should be able to hit him well today.

Cueto threw a 1-2-3 first inning. The Astros are playing almost all of their starters.

Cueto retires Lee and Tejada on popouts to Hanigan to begin the second inning. The Astros announcer in the booth with Thom is praising Cueto. He says Cueto reminds him of a young Jose Rijo.

    From Mark Sheldon.

Maybe Hopper is still looking for his stroke.

A lot of bad luck this inning for Cueto. AFter retiring the first two, Blum singled to left, Abercrombie reach on a high chopper off the plate and then Quintero got jammed and blooped a RBI single to RF.

Paul Janish just made an awesome catch on a blooper in shallow LF. Great play. Berkman should have been struckout on the previous pitch...

    1-2-3 third inning for Cueto.

Jacque Jones is just lost at the plate. Why hasn't he been cut yet?

I don't know but he needs to be cut soon.

Cueto sounds like he's not having too bad of a day aside from the bad luck inning.
