It's a simple question. For those of you who feel that this team should be improved from last year, what do you think would be a tangible improvement record-wise?
Getting excited over anything less than a better-than .500 seaon reeks of Bengaldom, IMO.

Anything less than the playoffs and I won't be happy. I don't see it happening so I just hope to see the the young guys take a step forward.
"My mission is to be the ray of hope, the guy who stands out there on that beautiful field and owns up to his mistakes and lets people know it's never completely hopeless, no matter how bad it seems at the time. I have a platform and a message, and now I go to bed at night, sober and happy, praying I can be a good messenger." -Josh Hamilton
I'll take .500 or maybe 84 wins. Any more is just wishful thinking. I am ecstatic that they finally have a rotation that is not cobbled together with spare parts, AAAA journeymen and young prospects who aren't ready yet. But they also lost a lot of games last year by being atrocious defenders and I am still not certain where the run production will come from. Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled with the position they are in because it marks real progress, but I won't fret if they don't over achieve.

Winning season.
Good stepping stone...show progress, but proves what we all know...they're not quite there yet.
Winning it all would be fine too
More cowbell... way more cowbell. What would be an improvement?

I'm greedy. Over .500 or bust.

I want to see 81 or more wins, and I believe that would be an indicator in improvement of the team and team product for the fans.
I feel strongly after reading Redszone for many years and having to realize that many of you really do invest a great deal of your time and money in the organization from love and loyalty, that those additional wins are needed and deserved by the Reds fans who never seem to give up on them.
.500 is a good first step.
More important, continued improvement from minor leagues and less reliance on multiple, expensive veterans.
Oh, and free beer.
For certain, we weren't winning WITH the big offense. But the pitching looks to be legitimate this year. I' hearing a lot of talk about improved defense, but I hear that every year. I need to see it on the field.
If this team can scrape together 83-84 wins, with this division, you never know where you might land. It certainly would be nice to play meaningful games in late August and September.
