    Luke Hudson hangs 'em up

The former Red calls it quits:

According to MLB.com's Dick Kaegel, Royals right-hander Luke Hudson has decided to retire from baseball.

Hudson, 31, missed the majority of 2007 and all of 2008 after undergoing shoulder surgery. His rehab did not go as planned. "It just feels like a sharp knife in there, and twisting when I throw," he said. "It's just physically impossible."

Hudson pitched in 58 total games for the Reds and Royals. He'll finish with a 17-18 record and a 5.11 career ERA.

Stayin healthy is a skill as well. Hudson was never healthy.
"Even a bad day at the ballpark beats the snot out of most other good days. I'll take my scorecard and pencil and beer and hot dog and rage at the dips and cheer at the highs, but I'm not ever going to stop loving this game and this team and nobody will ever take that away from me." His mechanics were so God awful it's a miracle he lasted this long. Heckuva nice guy. It's a shame he couldn't process what his coaches were telling him early in his career.
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...

Shame to see it happen, Luke seemed like a good guy. Although I will say that there was a Royals fan on another forum I was on who made fun of me for the Reds letting him go after he had a decent couple of months with KC, so atleast I showed him.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
