    Bailey Optioned?

Was just catching a little ESPN News at lunch looking for the latest notes on Calipari and they did a segment on sleepers for Fantasy BB.

During the segment the gent talking mentioned Micah Owings as a great pick up because....'Bailey has been sent down'.

    Any one else hear this?

I didn't see this, but I don't think this would be a surprise. The pregame show comes on soon - maybe we'll here.

On the pregame Marty/Dusty show there was no discussion on this topic.

About 10 minutes ago, ESPN reported that Bailey was sent down during a Fantasy Baseball story about Micah Owings.

Bailey's pitching tomorrow for the Reds, at least as of now.

I was just coming here to update. I just read he is starting tomorrow. My guess is after tomorrow he will be sent down as Owings was decent today. If Bruce makes the catch the numbers would have been good.

I don't think he is going anywhere until it is clear that Bronson is not headed to the DL.

    Re: Bailey Optioned?

Maloney's fiancee alluded to me today that they're thinking about putting him the bullpen.

She said they still aren't sure what they're gonna do with him.

She was right on when she told me Bruce was being called up, and Homer and Matt are roomates, so I think she's pretty credible.

It will be interesting to see how they handle Homer this season. I'd be willing to bet that his good performance this spring has caught some people in the organization a little off guard.

This seems spot on to me.

    Re: Bailey Optioned?

Another thing that makes me think Bailey is headed for the bullpen is that he has pitched 140+ innings in a season only once. I think it's another way of keeping him fresh and slowly building his arm strength as opposed to throwing him directly in the fire and having him throw 50 innings more than he has ever pitched.

I'd be stunned beyond belief if they put Homer in bullpen. Wasting any of his inexpensive service time in the bullpen when we have lots of bullpen candidates, and when you want him to be a starter would be incredibly short-sighted.

    I agree with you.
