    Griffey goes yard

    ...against Liriano in Minnesota tonight....

I would love to see Junior do well in Seattle.

Dunn went yard tonight too. Sort of ironic. Glad to see Junior off to a good start. I'd love to see him finish his career on a high note.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I'm rooting for a 50 homer season from Jr.

So does that mean if Dunn and Griffey were still Reds then the Reds would have won today?? :

Who knows but I don't think it would've changed the outcome on those bloopers.

But I thought those bloopers were going to be caught now that they were gone.

I'm rooting for Jr. to have a big season too. He must have not thought he got all of that pitch today, because he came sprinting out of the box. I bet he was pissed that he didn't get to strut for his first HR back in Seattle.

dont worry Dusty says they are learning as is on-the-job!! heck of a way to have your best 25 guys.. shouldn't they already know how to hustle to catch a fly ball aka McDonald??

ANYWAY I am rooting for Jr and i hope Seattle can get to the playoffs..I hope our Reds can, but they need offense first!!

Ah, the home run. What is that phenominon? We used to have it, but now it's replaced by "speed and defense." I didn't see much of either today, but I'm willing to wait.

Seriously, guys like Griffey and Dunn could make this team complete, but we couldn't afford them, or so they say. Methinks by mid season, we'll be looking for power and star power to fill the seats. That's something the 2009 Reds, as created by Dusty and Walt do not have. Any guesses on howmany will show up on Wednesday?

Good for JR and Adam, They may not fit into the Reds plans but I'll always root for both of them.

You raise a valid point in regards to Dunn. But it was clearly time to turn the page on Griffey. I hope he has a great season, but one homer on Opening Day from him and one 1 run performance by the Reds doesn't necessarily mean it was a bad move.

Only when Taveras is playing. He's the key to everything.
