Awesomeness. And we match!I see the Reds at 77-85 and fourth place. And if they finish above .500, I'll eat more spinach (instead of crow) than Popeye, who they probably could use in left field.
"On-base percentage is great if you can score runs and do something with that on-base percentage," Baker said. "Clogging up the bases isn't that great to me."
I see no way that this team is nothing but bad. I guess its a good thing that my interest in the Reds is by far the lowest it has ever been so I will not waste as much time on a losing team as I have in the past.
I'm feelin' lucky...
Here we have the two extremes. 4256 says 60 wins and Big Klu says 94. I'm confident in saying BK will not see this team come even close to 90 wins, but I'm also confident they'll win more than 60.
"You only have to bat a thousand in two things; flying and heart transplants. Everything else you can go 4-for-5."
-Gonna be a fun season
-Who needs Bruce when you've got Votto
-Bruce ain't chopped liver though
-Dusty isn't a manager who's gonna win a bunch of games for you
-He ain't gonna lose a bunch either
-Johnny > EV
-The saber-crowd will hate Willy
-The fans will enjoy Willy
-George Grande will love Willy
-EE is going to be the disappointment this year
-Glad to see you back Mr. Harang
-RZ will heatedly debate Owings role...everyday player???
-I'm pumped up
A few decent offseason moves to bolster LF/SS (and leave CF alone), and a competent manager, and we'd have had a solid chance at 87+ territory, in my opinion.
The board seems a bit pessimistic this season. The contrarian view says...
"...You just have a wider lens than one game."
--Former Reds GM Wayne Krivsky, on why he didn't fly Josh Hamilton to Colorado for one game.
"...its money well-spent. Don't screw around with your freedom."
--Roy Tucker, on why you need to lawyer up when you find yourself swimming with sharks.
We have averaged about 7 Ws too optimistic over the years. The average prediction this season was roughly 79 so I hope we are closer this year because 79 - 7 = blech.

Thanks GL for doing this again - the official Redszone prediction thread of record.
I can't see a team with this many judy hitters winning more than 82 games. Anything better than that and I'll eat my hat.
83 wins and a midseason Matt Holliday acquisition
gonelong, has the team ever beaten the average since you started doing this? I'm under the impression it hasn't, but I figured you'd know for sure.

I'm witchcrafting everybody.
M2, once out of 7 years. Kinda flies in the face of the "negative" perception this site has garnered over the years. Net, we are a sunshine and rainbows kinda group.
In 2006 ORG predicted average was 76.7 Ws and the Reds managed to best that by pulling out 80 wins. I will point out, that the PYTHAG for the Reds was 76 Wins that year.
In 2004 we predicted 76.8 Ws, the Reds pulled out 76 wins, with a PYTHAG of 67.
A brief recap of that info can all be found at the bottom first post of this thread, including links to the original prediction threads.
