    And yet another death today......

Marilyn Chambers, the pretty Ivory Snow soap girl who helped bring hard-core adult films into the mainstream consciousness......has died at 56.

.....the public learned that its star was the same young blonde smiling and holding a freshly diapered baby on boxes of Ivory Soap. The manufacturer quickly replaced her, but it was later discovered that she also had a small role in the 1970 Barbra Streisand film “The Owl and the *****cat.”

I wonder if that's why the flags are flying at half mast in Highland Heights.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

I write "monologue jokes" on occasion and this news inspired the following:

The world's first adult film superstar Marilyn Chambers passed away this morning at the age of 56. To show their respects fans are planning a candle light vigil from her Los Angeles home to a nearby park. The vigil was organized after their original plans were ruined by their moms walking in with laundry.

For those of you that weren't around in the 70's (or maybe even the '80's) these types of movies had a big effect on the mores of the time.

My GF at the time found it terrifficly liberating and she surprised me numerous times after we watched 'Behind the Green Door' together. It was like someone spoke to her and said that all men and women are, by nature, sexual and they are free to express it anyway they want. Not a tough concept to comprehend----unless you're sexually repressed----and that was what was happening in the '70's.

Marilyn Chambers was, by all accounts, a nice person, a decent Mom and a good friend to those that knew her. Her tie to Cincinnati is, of course, the Ivory Snow box (that GAC posted the picture of). P & G was, as I recall, appalled about that but we were in a society that was changing ideas and expanding their limits. Marilyn Chambers just happened to be on both sides of the line at the same time.

Try watching 70's now. Nothing will take the wind out of the sails quicker.

Without going into detail, I was a fan. I thought she was uniquely good looking and she seemed to actually have a bit of a brain in her head.

It's too young for a life to end, but in her line of work, I'm thankful if she isn't working at 56.

I read an article talking about the effects of the slumping economy on porn valley. Lots of ladies with expensive living habits and only one particular skill set are out of jobs.

    Legal ones, that it.

Adult film star Chambers' death still a mystery

A Los Angeles County coroner official says an autopsy has failed to determine the cause of death for adult film star Marilyn Chambers. Los Angeles County coroner's assistant chief Ed Winter said that 56-year-old Chambers probably died of natural causes, but additional testing will be required. Chambers was found dead Sunday at her home in the Los Angeles suburb of Canyon Country.

Information from another website: (credit to HecticArt)

"They said on playboy radio the other day that she had a massive stroke and fell and hit her head on a table (or something.) They said she probably wouldn't have made it to the floor even if she hadn't hit the table. They also said it was due to some vascular condition she had her whole life."
