Dayton lineup:
David Sappelt, CF
Cody Puckett, 2B
Jose Gualdron, DH
Humberto Sosa, 1B
Frank Pfister, 3B
Tyler Stovall, LF
Jordan Wideman, C
Miguel Rojas, SS
Brandon Menchaca, RF
Leonardo Astorga, RHP
Where is Byron Wiley? He's arguably the top prospect on the roster and yet he's only played in two of first four games. Why in the world are guys like Gualdron and Menchaca playing over Wiley?
Just a hypothesis, but perhaps they're giving a couple guys time to sink or swim early in the season.
Dayton is winning 1-0 after a 1/2 inning. Sappelt singled and later scored on a sac fly by Jose Gualdron.
Dayton is up 3-1 in the second inning and has a runner on first with just 1 out.
Jose Gualdron singles in another run and the runners take 2nd and 3rd on an error by the outfielder. 4-1 Dragons, still in the 2nd inning.
I think Jose heard OBM talking trash about him.
It's nothing against Gualdron, I just think Byron Wiley should be playing everyday. I'd like to see Gualdron play everyday too because he's still young (21) and has some strong defensive skills from what I've read. I don't understand why Menchaca is playing over Wiley. Again, nothing against Menchaca but he turns 24 tomorrow and he OPS'd just .534 last season in Dayton. Wiley is a 5-tool talent and is arguably the most talented player on the roster. He deserves to play everyday, IMO.

Dayton is losing 5-4 after three innings.
Sappelt: 2-for-2
Puckett: 0-for-2
Gualdron: 1-for-1 sac fly, 2 RBI
Sosa: 0-for-2
Wideman: 1-for-1 double, walk
Rojas: 1-for-2
Astorga: 3 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 3 BB, 0 K
What's the word on Wideman? Canadian and just turned 20. He's been pretty hot right out of the gate this year.
Mace Thurman threw a scoreless fourth inning in relief of Astorga.
Simply said, he's a cacther with strong defensive skills, but there are big questions about his bat. His hitting has been improving ever since he signed, though, and this could be a breakout year for him.
Trivia: His brother was drafted by the Expos and traded to the Blue Jays for ex-Reds farmhand Tyrell Godwin.
Thurman: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Dayton still trails 5-4 after five innings.
Another scoreless inning by Thurman. 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
Dayton is losing 5-4 after six innings.
Dayton loses 5-4 after a ground out to the pitcher, pop up on the infield and a liner to end the game.
