So...who's starting to worry about Homer?

In the spirit of the Edinson thread on the ORG...

Is anyone starting to think that ST was an anamoly? After two abysmal starts in Louisville (one of which he got ejected in the third inning,) is Homer showing that he's no different than the old Homer?
    Go BLUE!!!

I think I'm with Heather on this question. Like her, I don't worry about my own real life stuff, so no sense working myself up about a couple of starts at the beginning of the season. It's a long haul.

As negative as I've been about him, I'm not THAT worried about him. I just think, as Marty and Jeff stated tonight, that he's extremely wound tight and sensitive. Probably just a little pissed off and showing a bit of immaturity after being sent down. I think he's tired of being in Louisville and ready to come up to the big leagues and thought he did enough to stay in Cincinnati.

Once we sent him down, he probably went back to his huntin' magazine days and sorta pouted a bit.

Someone in the Reds org got tosses for plunking someone? Has that happened any time in the last 10 years?

There's a song lyric for all occasions For Homer Bailey's current predicament it's "You always end up losing 'cause you got a see-through head."

Not me. I am all of out of worry. I am at the point in the season where I require more data than two outings to "worry". Look me up after a full season of AAA for Homer with 170+ innings thrown for any concern.

I like it. I haven't seen a Reds pitcher throw at a batter, knock a batter down, throw a wake up pitch, etc. in a long time. Homer has had a couple of tough starts but I like the nastiness that he can show.

It's definitely too early to worry and I'm glad I'm not the only one wondering why we're supposed to be worrying about everything.

All he showed is the same immature attitude that's served him so poorly to date. Can't find the plate? Getting cuffed around? Then do something juvenile and get yourself tossed. He's Mike Tyson biting an ear.

You say "nastiness," I say "cracks under a slight amount of pressure."

Re: So...who's starting to worry about Homer?

Been "worried' about him for 2 years now...not sure he ever makes it as anything more than a reliever.

I'm not a big fan of his, over-hyped, poor, inconsistent work ethic, fragile ego, straight fastball, no out pitch etc..., still.

The only counter argument seems to be "he's still young," and every year that goes by, that argument holds less water.

Re: So...who's starting to worry about Homer?

It's tough not to be worried about Homer, but it's also probably a bad idea ever to count too heavily on any one prospect. Very few are sure shots, obviously, and if Homer winds up not meeting the hype, there will be somebody else who exceeds the hype and helps the club more.

Right now, the great strength on the AAA staff is in the bullpen with Roenicke, Bray, Fisher, Viola, Manuel. Not sure too many other AAA teams can match that group in terms of promise.

Reds don't have a lot of available spots for these relievers right now, but they will have to make some decisions on them soon.
