Chris Denove reached on catcher interference. The Mudcats now have the bases loaded with 2 out.

The pinch hitter popped out, so we are going to the bottom of the 8th 4-3.

Federico Baez just replaced Smith in the bottom of the 6th, so that line is final.
Wow! That's the definition of "scattering 10 hits."

It's getting ugly in the Carolina game. Mobile is winning 9-3, and they are still batting in the bottom of the 8th.

The inning is now over, Mobile is ahead 10-3, going to the 9th.

Francisco just singled Helsey in , so it's only 10-4 now.

    Carolina lost 10-4.

    Helsey: 2-5, HR, RBI
    Cozart: 1-5, double
    Francisco: 2-5, 2 RBI
    Parker:2-4

Baez suffered both the loss and the blown save: 2/3 IP, 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 Er, 1BB

    Geronimo suffered a rough 8th inning: 1 IP, 4 hits, 6 runs, 5 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 2 HR allowed

I just got home a little bit ago from the Dayton - Tin Caps game. Final score was 7-0 Tin Caps. Dayton defintitely appears to be lacking talent at the moment. It probably does not help that it was the inagural game for Fort Wayne in their new stadium tonight. There was also talk around the stadium that maybe the Padres organization left a few players in Fort Wayne to help them open the new stadium in lieu of moving them up yet, but I have a hard time believing that.
Apparantly the pitcher for Fort Wayne was a high draft pick for the Pads a few years ago, and only pitched a few games before needing Tommy John surgery in July 2007. This was only his second start since coming back. He looked good, but the new stadium's radar gun was not working, so I have no idea how hard any of the pitchers were throwing.
I will be looking forward to catching more Dayton games while they are in Fort Wayne this year.

Drew M. Anderson was traded to the Rays for cash or a PTBNL. It's looking more and more like cash will be the return.

Yes, he had to clear waivers first. If a team wants to outright Richar again in the future, Richar has the option of refusing the assignment and signing with a different team.
