6 Ks through 4 IP (vs. just 2 walks) for Volquez. Quietly having himself a solid game.

It's fair point-they'll be better. But it's a below average group.

Trust me, I've heard this over and over and over. I get it. This ain't the 2004 Red Sox. Really, I get it.

Good thing is, they don't have to be. If the pitching is half of what the press and this board claimed it would be, then they won't need a 3-4-5 of Ramirez, Bonds, Thome to remain in the hunt.

What do the Reds have to see to give Paul Janish some legit at-bats at SS?

This is my big beef right now. Guys getting playing time because they have a contract (cf. Griffey).

I'm the guy who wrote this post.

I'm not anticipating any meaningful baseball past June. In fairness though, I'm not even sure they are the 2008 Padres.

On a side note, I've thought the ump has a good sense of the strike zone today. Gameday agrees as well.

Thsis game is an example of why players love Dusty. Alex and Ramon should have been given the day off. Day game after a night game and a Sunday. Instead he shows his faith in them. Players love him. Only trouble is..... it hurts the team.
