Yeah, except right now BP can't hit anybody, lefty, righty, or otherwise.

The only bad thing about Cueto reaching base, it seems like everytime a pitcher runs the bases he gets gassed and gives up a run the next inning.

Hairston showed off his warning track power there.

Hairston flies out to left center. One of these years Grande is going to learn where the warning track is.

Now that the inning is over I want to know if anyone noticed that "textbook" baserunning by Gonzalez there. Anyone think Tom Emanski teaches the old "run half way to the mound before heading toward first on a bunt" move?

I think that Cueto should be used as a pinch-runner on days he doesn't pitch, much like Owings is used as a pinch-hitter. Johnny has serious speed.

Only George Grande could turn a bobble of an easy ground ball into an admiring "WHAT HANDS!"...

I missed Cueto's Houston start, was he throwing as free and easy there as he is tonight? His fastball is touching 95 according to the FSN Ohio gun...

With the proliferation of 12- and 13-man pitching staffs (I'm sure that someone is eventually going to go with a 14-man staff at some point), I think that it will become more important to have starting pitchers who can occasionally do other things for the club in a pinch. Owings can PH, Cueto could PR, Arroyo could do both (though I would only consider him as a PH in low-leverage situations).

IIRC, he was used as a pinch runner a couple of times last year between his starts so I wouldn't be surprised to see him run again this year if necessary.

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”
