    yep.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

The Bruce Interview went the way the interviewer wanted it to go. The Votto interview didn't, so he had to make stupid little jokes to make it go his way. Very annoying.

Joey doesn't seem much like the joking around type... remember Dunn teasing him while he was getting interviewed by ESPN last year after his three HR game? "I'd like to apologize for my teammate's rudeness"

I don't think this interviewer was being a jerk, he just chose the wrong guy to try and do a goofy interview with. The only thing I'd take away from those two interviews is that if you have chance to get a beer with either Votto or Bruce, pick Jay.

Hey, I'm not a lumberjack, or a fur trader....
I don't live in an igloo or eat blubber, or own a dogsled....
and I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada,
although I'm certain they're really really nice.

I have a Prime Minister, not a president.
I speak English and French, not American.
And I pronounce it 'about', not 'a boot'.

I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack.
I believe in peace keeping, not policing,
    diversity, not assimilation,
and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal.
A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch,
and it is pronounced 'zed' not 'zee', 'zed' !!!!

Canada is the second largest landmass!
    The first nation of hockey!
and the best part of North America

    My name is Joe!!
    And I am Canadian!!!

I'm sure Votto has a sense of humor and a great personality. I think he just wasn't expecting the interview to unfold the way it did. I had a similar thing happen to me in college. I was being interviewed as the senior captain of the softball team, and after the interview, the writer added in snide remarks that poked fun at my answers. I was pretty embarrassed when I read it in the school newspaper, because I didn't realize what type of interview it was supposed to be. It's STILL on the internet.

It just shows that Joey is more tightly wound and takes things seriously....nothing wrong with that at all. That's probably why some people could not take Griffey and Dunn's laid back atitude and felt it reflected poorly on the ballclub. Like they did not care.

They just cared in their own ....laid back way.

I wonder how Joey would have reacted to this interview had it been done after a game rather than before a game. I've seen him a bunch of times before games and he's very serious and workmanlike prior to taking the field but I bet he'd be a lot more relaxed and have more fun with interviews after the game is over. Joey is one of the most polite and respectful guys on this team but this interviewer doesn't really get that across at all. The dude really should have asked me for help before he interviewed Joey, LOL

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

It sounds like this reporter's technique is to blindside his interviewees with his "shtick" and if they are cool and play along, the interview looks like a goofy light-hearted chat and if they don't play along (see Votto) he makes the interviewee look like someone who can't take a joke. In both cases he is never the one who has egg on his face.

Yeah, you'd have gone all Chris Farley Show on him. "Remember that game you hit 3 HRs? That was so cool."

Hehe, the first time he did it last year was on my mom's birthday so I'll never forget it! Believe it or not, I can actually stay cool around famous people....well, when I can get words out, LOL
