I'm glad C.Trent is keeping up his website blog and I hope he finds something good job wise soon.

So sorry to hear of your job loss Matt and best of luck to you in whatever comes next. I'm glad you're taking this all right and that they did cover you with a decent severance.

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

They don't think of things like that. When 1530s ratings suck next time around, their answer will be more cuts. Surely, it has to be the staff!!!

The idea of "spend money to make money" is dead in broadcasting. Now it's just more cutting from the bottom (costs) instead of trying to grow the top.

I'm pretty disappointed in all of this. I took my radio to work because we're blocked from surfing the internet for sports news, and I would listen to Cutler and Mo, turn it off at noon when Rome comes on, because his arrogance is unlistenable, and then flip the radio back on and alternate between Eddie/Tracy and Lance. This was what got me through the mundane work day. Today...well, I'd rather just not talk about today.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

This could be to Matt700WLW or anyone in general..as Clearchannel has gotten rid of a ton of solid qualified talent over the last few years..and since at least sports-wise we are getting rid of local programming..it almost seems like if they could get financing behind it that you could start a brand new radio station on the AM dial with all the people they have let go and other than maybe not having Reds games they could have pretty much have all the local sports/talk/music they wanted...I think it would catch on quickly who may be burned out on the Clearchannel monopoly.

Sorry to hear about this situation Matt, hope you land on your feet! Good god it just seems like it's one thing after another anymore.

On the bright side I hope you do well but try going with something different than Matt----ESPN.

I'm definatley late to the party but sorry to hear about this Matt. Good luck with wherever you go next.

You seem to be taking the news in stride, though.
