Looks like it's all Jay Bruce and Joey Votto.

The catcher spot is doing OK too.

Yes it is. The heavy lifting is still being done by Bruce and Votto but at least the catchers are pitching in.

Re: May 5th offensive stats by position

Hard to believe the Reds are winning, according to those numbers. What really boggles my mind is that Rosales has been hitting the cover off the ball for a week now and 3B still is the worst offensive position. Of course, it's not like that's the only reason for the Red's offensive offense.

The other way to look at this is that those BABIP numbers are sure to rise. Has anyone ever played 140 games and had a BABIP below 200? Brandon Phillips is sure to get better, at least nominally, right?

    Votto rocks.
    Bruce is pretty good also.
Hernandez/Hanigan & the bench are doing well.
Phillips, Gonzo, EE, Dickerson, Hairston & Taveras all suck.

The stats back up what we have been watching (painfully at times) over the last month.

I'm a little worried that Votto's due a big correction. That BABIP is pretty crazy.

It's a decent bench, though at this point, I'd replace McDonald with Gomes.

I'd give Hanigan at least one start per week, which I guess he gets now as Arroyo's personal catcher.

Janish might be the starter pending results from AGon's examination. He'll start tonight I'm betting.

Dickerson IMO has started to flash signs that he's coming out of this. I expect a big night from him. IF Dusty starts him.

By the same token, and like Scrap Irony said, the babip for some of those players (notably BP) is bound to improve. Over the course of the season it should balance out.
