McCarron Airport can be a zoo at times. Not to worry, take your time when you get in, you'll be fine; leaving town I suggest allowing a little extra time to get through the airport, especially if you are leaving on a Sunday.

LV used to be good for cheap eats but that's changed to a large degree. The casino owners no longer rely on gambleing to pay the bills. However, there are still deals on buffetts. Sorry that I can't give you some websites but start with tripadvisor and flyertalk as I mentioned above and look for threads regarding dining in LV. Also, search for coupons for dining in LV.

People have said that LV is 'recession proof' but that's not true right now. Do a little searching on the internet that will cut your costs---they're out there.

Ya' might still get some beach time and jet skiing for the wife out at Lake Mead.

    Have a good time!

I went through McCarron two week ago. One of the trams to and from Concourse D is still down so there are some wait times associated with that. Other than the tram, I thought it was fairly easy in, easy out.

LV is getting hit big time by the recession. There are all sorts of deals out there if you are willing to look for them.
All models are wrong. Some of them are useful.

Nope, I've never been there. We're staying at the Riviera hotel and Casino. It looked pretty nice.

That's unfortunate about the dining, I was told it was very cheap. If all else fails, we'll pack a lunch for one of the nights and do a picnic type deal.

So Lake Meade you say? I'll have to look into that. Thanks.

EDIT - forgot to add, no we're not renting a car.

I think Vegas is a great idea for a Honeymoon. Even if you're not into gambling very much, the experience of being in a place like Vegas goes along with the whole honeymoon vibe. Go do your vows again with an Elvis impersonator.

At lasvegasadvisor.com, there are tons of coupons available if you join their site. Are these legit? I think it costs $37 for online membership. I wouldn't want to buy this and these coupons not work, anyone know if these will work?

I'll be heading out to Vegas in July with a group of buddies. What I've found is that there are enough coupon codes and other deals available for free that it may not be worth it to spend that type of money for a membership. The caveat is I've never been a member so I do not know what they offer, but my guess is that type of membership probably benefits frequent Vegas visitors moreso than folks who may only travel out there once every few years, if even that often.

I was thinking Hawaii would be nice. Obviously, no trips to Mexico. Where is a good place to look for honeymoon packages? I'm looking to spend <$1000.

Before I saw that you had been married for a couple of years I was going to say you can go anywhere that has a comfortable king size bed. That's really all you need. But since you have been married for a couple of years you are probably past all that now.
Really, Ocracoke Island would be a great place to go. Not many people there and very affordable. You can literally have long stretches of beach to yourself. Also fishing is close by in Hatteras if you like that. I don't know where you live but it would be a long drive from just about anywhere. You also have to build in a 40 minute ferry ride from Hatteras which is free and very enjoyable on a nice day.

    Re: Honeymoon Ideas?

Cyclone is right. There are plenty of promo coupons on the web. You don't need to pay to get them. Besides, surf the web for LV and you'll learn a lot more about what's going on in the city you're going to.

I've been in the casino at the Riviera but never stayed there. Older hotel (sometimes these are the best and have great locations along The Strip) and it seems to be well maintained. (Although it's been about two years since I was in there.) Check the reviews for this hotel on tripadvisor just to get a feel for what you might want to be ready for.

For a day at Lake Mead you'll either need a car or a shuttle that will take you and come back to get you. Check for rental deals on Orbit.com or Hotwire.com. Renting a car for one day can be pretty cheap---I've seen rates around $15.00/day but not at the airport and not necessarilly at the time you're going. If you are only going to Lake Mead for one day but spending the rest of the time on the Strip, just rent the car for the one day. Plus the hotels in Vegas often have mandatory valet parking fees---you don't/won't need that. Plus, driving in LV, at least where the tourists go is a pain in the butt. Walk or take a cab. Be forewarned: a block along The Strip is often about one mile. Seriously.

The water show at Ballagio is free and fun. The Pirate fight (if they still have it) at the Mirage is fun and free. Just observing all forms of human nature on the Strip can be fun (or really, really wierd ).

Three days is about all I can take of LV and then I need to get out of there. Having said that, since you've never been there, I think you'll have a great time. It's different, that's for sure. When you get back, we expect a full game recap!

    At home!

Oh, you mean in LV? In LV it's legal to carry open containers from place to place, say along the strip, so it's sort of a moving party.

You could get a room for a week at Days Inn and a whole lot of White Castle's for a grand.

Read up on front desk tipping http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/travel-deals/529706/

Looks like people are reporting 100 percent success rate at the Riviera.

Show a $20 bill at check-in to the clerk, Be discreet about it and ask if it is possible to get an upgrade. If the clerk says no, pull the $20 back and you lose nothing. But if he says yes, you hand him your credit card and the $20.

    Another question:

Is there a way to search for for bands/artists playing in Las Vegas on my dates? I can't seem to find a way to do this. I can search individual bands/artists and check their tour dates, but it is time consuming.
