3 more innings guys. Pretty early to call this one done. We've been swinging pretty good bats lately. And now you toss Votto into the mix. I still like our chances. I also like our pen versus their pen.
    2014 predictions:
99-63 WS champs (Cards take 2nd WC, Mil 3rd, Pit 4th, Chi 5th)
Bruce/Votto neck and neck MVP race (neither takes it)
    Bailey CYA winner
    Hamilton ROY & GG

Walks are the festering ulcer on an otherwise healthy pitching staff.

    Great!

I was pointing out that with 11 Ks, saying he "pounded strikes" might not be the most farfetched thing George said today.

Agree...those weren't close to being strikes, I think DRH was hoping to have Duncan chase them. Duncan has developed an eerie ability to sit back on his pitches because of some kind of new found strength.

DRH is obviously still a question. Viola pitching well at AAA, could get a shot as the second lefty if DRH falters.
DRH has been 'OK'. Not great, not terrible. He's different in what he throws and the speed he throws it at. He does seem to need to throw more strikes and sometimes the umpires do seem to 'squeeze' him.

Don't forget, many of the umps are seeing his 'stuff' for the first time too and they may not have seen someone throw this 'hard' since they did high school games.

To be fair, it doesn't take throwing strikes to rack up Ks in the early going of a season. From what I've seen, Herrera's been much more wild than a strike zone pounder.

Umm, don't recall but I was watching highlights on MLB TV. I want to say one of them was in a Detroit game but can't be positive. The one I seen called a balk was earlier in the year.

Larussa goes to the mop up guy McClellan in the 7th inning. Another weird strategic error.
