An insurance run or two would be nice.

I'd pull Owings. His pitch count is fine but the DBacks started making better contact last inning.

89 pitches? Why not let him go for the shutout against the team that traded him?

Chris Young covers some turf in center.

Wendlestedt is really loud. Never confusion about a pitch. Can even hear where he says the balls are.

He's got at least one more inning in him...heck, if we get some more insurance runs, they may let him finish it out.

Phillips broke part of the digital screen scoreboard on his homerun. At least $4K in damages.

Actually, yeah, why not? Go ahead and give him a shot.

    Re: 5/12/09 Reds vs D-Backs

I think we're seeing a little bit of how much it means to these guys to be on this team. When Votto and BP were both out sick, the other guys all started hitting better and basically picked them up by not letting their absences get them down. They're picking up their pitchers by making plays behind them. The two catchers have been on fire with increased playing time and for Hernandez, he's actually playing out of position for the first time in a while and not doing too badly. Tonight they're picking up Micah while he's pitching against his former team (which is sometimes a stressful situation) and picking up Joey too because he had to leave the game which I'm sure made him unhappy. I guess I just see a real TEAM forming with these guys and it's just wonderful to watch this year.
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

Like I said earlier, he's leaving way too many pitches up and over the heart of the plate. Frankly, it's sheer luck we're not still in the 7th right now.

Phillips definitely overexaggerated that moderately inside pitch.
