    I always hated soft toss because the tosser sucked at tossing it where it needed to be. You were more antagonized than learning.

    I've seen a few of those "tossers" that you are referring to.

    In high school, I was never much of a fan of soft toss but I always got work in on the tee before live BP. I just felt like the things I got out of soft toss I also got out of hitting off the tee (i.e. working on swing fundamentals, getting loose, getting focused). And it was always easier for me to just grab a tee and work by myself than to try to find someone else to toss to me.

    I do think it's helpful for younger players if the coach is giving hands on instruction. It's easy for a coach to soft toss and help fix flaws in young players' swings.
