Carolina down 1-0 in the 2nd inning. Chris Heisey is not playing after leaving last nights game in the 8th inning....
Carolina ties it at 1 in the top of the 6th, a Henry bunt single brought home Denove. Sounds like Mallett is really in a groove after giving up the first inning run.
Birmingham gets the run back in the bottom of the inning, Carolina down 2-1 after 6.
It's getting chippy now. Birmingham's pitcher threw high and tight on Frazier after Frazier glared at him for going inside the pitch before. A couple players from each dugout came out onto the field to join the jawing. Warnings have now been issued by the home plate ump.
Carolina loses a lightning quick game 2-1. Game only lasted a tick under two hours.

A FINE TUNED VIOLA: LHP Pedro Viola (Louisville) last night at Durham orchestrated a scoreless 9th inning for his 2nd save of the season...since allowing a solo home run in his first outing of the season on 4/14 vs Toledo, he’s strung together 11 straight scoreless appearances (13.2ip, 5h, 7bb, 16k, .106ba).
WOOD WORKING: LHP Travis Wood (Carolina) last night at Birmingham scattered 7 hits over a season-high 7.0 innings to notch his 2nd win of the year (1r/1er, 2bb, 7k)...for the season, Wood is 2-3 with a 1.36 ERA in 7 starts (12r/6er, 39.2ip, 24bb, 28k, .197ba)...he ranks among Southern League leaders in ERA (3rd) and innings pitched (39.2ip, 1st).
EYE OF THE TIGER: IF Eric Eymann (Carolina) last night at Birmingham went 3-for-5 with 2 runs and 2 RBI...it marked his third 3-hit game in 4 contests...Eymann has hit safely in 12 of his last 16 games (21-45, .467) to raise his batting average from .139 to .321 and his on-base pct. from .184 to .402...in 9 games this month, he’s batting .500 (13-26, 1hr, 7rbi).
LOOKING FOR LOVE IN SULBARAN PLACES: RHP J.C. Sulbaran (Dayton) last night vs. West Michigan allowed a run on 4 hits in 5.0 innings (0bb, 8k, 1hr)...his night ended early due to a blister on his pitching finger...Sulbaran, 19, pitched for Team Netherlands in this year’s World Baseball Classic.
