I'd like to have seen Nix in there tonight. With Votto out, we need all the offense we can get.

Augenstein throws in the upper 80's from what I've read. Hopefully the Reds can get to him early.

The Cardinals lost 5-2 at Pittsburgh. The Reds can move into a tie for first place with a win tonight.

Hopefully nobody has to leave the game early.

Taveras takes three straight strikes pretty much down the middle. One out.

Yeah, a tie with the Cards and maybe with the Brewers also. They lead 8-4 in the 4th.

I know the kid is from AA, but he's been VERY dominant at AA. I don't think it's much of a stretch for him to jump to the bigs. He looks pretty darned good so far. He pounds the strike zone from what people are saying.

His stuff is average at best. His fastball sits in the upper 80's and he lacks an out pitch.

Nope. He may dominate if he gets that pitch called for a strike all night.

92 mph down to 77 mph. Pretty good spread with solid control. I hope Johnny's on top of his game tonight.

It seems like every time we face a rookie pitcher, we run into a buzzsaw. I fully expect us to get shut out this game. I hope I'm wrong, though.
