    Saturday 5/16/09 Minor League updates

    Sarasota plays a double header, game 1 is under way. Jeremy Horst is on the mound. Luis Montano is going in game 2.

    Dayton - 7:05 - Oscar Castro
    Carolina - 6:15 - Misael DeJesus
    Louisville - 7:00 - Matt Maloney

    Sarasota goes up 2-0 on a Denis Phipps 2 run HR.

    Alonso just singled to extend his hitting streak to 16 games.

    Soto is 0-for-1 with a HBP and a sac fly.

    Phipps is 2-for-3 with two homers (#2 and 3) and 5 RBI.

    Mesoraco needs to go back to Dayton. I don't see the value of him staying in Sarasota.

    People were saying the same thing about his start in Dayton last year and then progressed nicely throughout the year. Besides, I'm more interested in how his defensive skill set is progressing.

    He did? I'd argue that he's hardly progressed since he was drafted.
