Brandon Phillips must not see the ball out of Hamel's hand well.... 6 strikeouts in 13 PA... ouch.

I'm guessing a few of those were at the 15 strikeout game Hamels had at GABP. When I was in attendance of course.

Both he and Dunn struck out three times in that game according to the box score.

Wasn't that the game where the Reds hit into an around the horn triple play?

I think Hamels is in for another big night tonight. For some reason McDonald is starting in left tonight. I can't figure out why McDonald is even on the team and he definitely should not be starting against one of the top pitchers in baseball.

He's the only RH outfielder left since JHJ is at 3B. I guess Dusty could have played Hernandez at 1B instead of Rosales. Then Rosales could have went to 3B and JHJ to LF.

Is there any hope for Votto to play in this series? I assume he's just considered "day-to-day".

Perhaps so that he earns a 'Golden Sombrero' and Dusty can tell him that it's time to think about a career move?

While I personally don't think McDonald should be here anymore (there was a reason early on with the injuries, but not now), if he's on the roster...he'll get an occasional start. Tonights' as good as any. Personally, I'm more surprised with Phillips batting THIRD and Bruce cleaning up than I am with Darnell getting a start.

As for Hamels, he's been struggling this season and I think we'll continue that trend as some of the bats have solid nights. The one in for the another big night is Cueto IMO. I see him having another solid outting.

I think a mod just logged on, so maybe one will be started. Cueto started the 1st in 1 2 3 fashion: K, flyout to McDonald, K. Reds batting now.

Reds down in order too. Moving to the second inning.
