    Re-do a draft - 2004

The 2004 draft was supposed to be the bomb. It had pitching on top of pitching on top of pitching. Teams were planning on filling up on arms for the next decade. So far it hasn't worked out that way, but a lot arms from this draft are still young. We're officially crossing the line from performance to projection.

We're going 30 picks here. Everybody taken in the 2004 draft is eligible, regardless if they signed. There's no formal picking order, whoever posts gets to make the next selection. Posters can make multiple picks, just don't make two selections in a row.

Anyone selected in the draft for the year in question is eligible. How he was rated prior to the draft should not be considered. The only considerations are how he has played to date and what kind of future you think he has. We're pretending we've got a time machine that takes us back to draft day 2004 with the benefit of knowing everything we know today.

Let's keep the current picks listed with each new pick and then just bold the new selection. For instance:

    1. Dude A
    2. Dude B
    3. Dude C
    4. Dude D
Remember 2003? The Reds had a new ballpark and the world was going to be their oyster. Jim Bowden's plan was coming to fruition. So put on your leather pants and get ready for re-do a draft.

We're going 30 picks here (well, hopefully, seeing that we petered out with the 2002 list and the washout rate in 2003 was extremely high). Everybody taken in the 2003 draft is eligible, regardless if they signed. There's no formal picking order, whoever posts gets to make the next selection. Posters can make multiple picks, just don't make two selections in a row.

Here's the first pick, he's scrappy:

    1. Dustin Pedroia

Price was also drafted in 2004, he just didn't sign.

Hughes has been a bit of a disappointment in the majors but he was flat out dominant at every stop in the minors and is still young enough that he may still be able to but it together in the big leagues. Even if he doesn't pan out as a big league pitcher, his trade value a year or two ago makes him worth taking here.

Gallardo was already taken at #4, which is why I went again and put Hughes at #8. That being said if you want to re-do your pick, feel free to do so and bump Hughes back to #9.
