    Carolina

This team is hard to figure Their record is poor, but some of the stats for the guys are really excellent.

    Heisey .336 BA
Henry .310 BA He batted .285 last year but the Reds haven't even given him a look. He was over .300 for much of last year.

    The pitching is impressive

    Wood 22 year old left-hnader 1.60 ERA
Smith 23 year old right hander2.43 ERA
Smit 24 year old left-hander 2.81 ERA Did great last night 53 of 78 pitches thrown for strikes in his first start. Comes from the Netherlands which might be why he has been a little slow developmentally. Was part of the reason The Netherlands surprised everyone in the WBC. He was a shutdown reliever with a 0.00 ERA

Not that I agree with the comment, but I think what he means is that baseball is a lot more foreign over there.

    Re: Carolina

Henry is only 23. Signed as a SS by the Mets. Acquired from the Mets in the middle of the 2007 season. I'm going to guess that was for the Veteran 1st Baseman that we had at the time. Nice pickup by Krivsky. He spent three years in Rookie ball. This is his 3rd stint at AA with the REDS. The REDS moved him down one level at the beginning of last season, but didn't leave him there very long.

We have a glut of Outfielders in AAA, and so it was easy to put him in AA and see if he can force the REDS to move him up.

Right now you have Stubbs, Hopper, and Dorn in the Outfield, with Dorn splitting time at 1B with Kevin Barker, who's expendable. Gomes had been needed on the AAA club for the very reason of having him in reserve in case McDonald/Nix/Dickerson flopped. They could have sent Dickerson down to Louisville's outfield, but instead chose to DFA McDonald. That leaves Gomes/Nix/Dickerson at the Major League level while Hopper/Stubbs/Dorn/Bankston(15 games in OF so far) share time in the Outfield.

Heisey moves up when Stubbs moves up. That leaves Frazier/Henry/Cumberland to see who moves up 1st among those three. Cumberland has played himself out of the equation, so it's a fight between Frazier and Henry to see who gets the nod. What makes the REDS pull the trigger may be any of a number of things, but it's most likely a trade or an injury that makes them make a move. Though if Henry keeps this hot streak up another 4 weeks, they'll have to move him up and do something with Hopper.

    Henry is hot right now.

Also, Heisey is having a great season, and Stubbs is having a great season. We have a great problem with our Center Fields at AA/AAA/and the Major Leagues. There is no problem other than the fact that there's no room for movement upward at the moment.

Maybe Heisey gets the promotion and he starts playing Left Field in Louisville.

My guess is Heisey will be able to force the promotion before Stubbs is able to get to Cinti. I hope so anyway as I think Stubbs needs the time at L'ville and Heisey is deserving.
