You know, I can kind of see why they would of chose McDonald. They didn't anticipate him hitting that poorly and they probably assumed he would play pretty good defense, which he did not. I have a new appreciation for outfield defence after watching Hairston and Dickerson play left, I realize that stopping a ball from going to the wall and saving 2-5 hits a week can really, really help. I do like Gomes though and even know some balls will drop in front of him and get by him from time to time, his bat will make up for it. Especially only playing against lefties. I would of taken Gomes instead of McDonald out of spring training, the Reds did make a mistake, but I think I can kind of se their logic. Maybe.

Well, I do see in another thread that I was wrong, it was apparently Dusty who seemed to go to bat (pardon the pun) for McDonald

Like you, I think I can understand their logic for bringing McDonald north instead of Gomes. Still doesn't change the fact that it was the wrong decision.

Tampa Bay just gave up 7 runs in the 9th inning and lost 11-10
