Fairel deserves a promotion. They need to challenge him at this point.

    regarding Stubbs in right field...

If things continue as they are, I suspect Stubbs may see the Reds after the break. That would open up a slot for Heisey.

If Stubbs were brought up, however, he would likely have to get some of his playing time at a corner outfield spot. It's also interesting that he has been hitting in the two spot in the order. That tells me that for the near term, the Reds are set with Taveras leading off and playing center.

Sorry I am late to the party but come on, Darnell McDonald? When I said he was the wrong kind of filler this is exactly what I meant. There are so many reasons why this is bad.

I am going to start drinking now.

Carolina just scored 2 runs on a Frazier triple and Parker double. It begins to look like I was right about McDonald blocking Helsey.

Would be typical reds for them to do something this stupid.

Agree. Both Bruce and Dickerson struggled playing in a corner in the majors after spending most of their time as plus CF in the minors. Many say it was lack of familiarity with the corner spots. Maybe this is an attempt to avoid the same mistake, because Stubbs won't be solely a CF initially. Maybe later, but when first called he'll play where the opportunity permits.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Carolina wins 7-2. I believe that's the second sweep for the Reds' farm system in a week or so, maybe less. And I don't believe there had been a single one previously.

Both you and RVH have a good point here. It doesn't hurt Stubbs to play another position he has CF down cold at this point IMO. While he's still working on his offensive game it doesn't hurt to maximize his versatility.

I thought the same thing. Not very promising.
