    Who to start?

If Edinson misses Saturday's start, who do you think will start. Or want to start. Its a big issue for me, as I will be there for only my second game ever at GABP and first since 2004.

I like Masset in his current role so I voted Maloney.

    Matt Maloney.

    67.1 IP, 60 H, 3 HR, 9 BB/58 K, 2.00 ERA in Triple-A. And he's left handed.

Same here, plus Maloney started today so he lines right up for it. But I'd bet Homer gets one more start. Just know how they will spin it, Maloney ain't on the 40 man.

Maloney's on the 40 man roster.

Maloney's done pretty good at AAA, and has earned a shot.

I'd say Maloney...but I think it's too early to write off Edinson. It might be nothing. At least I'm "trying" to stay hopeful. :O)

Put your money on Masset. I don't think they'll bring up Maloney with Masset pitching so well right now. Now bringing up and starting Maloney instead of Owings--now I could go for that.

    Will it be Maloney?

Matt Maloney's stuff doesn't overwhelm scouts. But based on his numbers and the day his turn falls on, you've got to think he'll start Saturday against the Chicago Cubs in the place of Edinson Volquez.

Maloney, a 25-year-old left-hander, is pitching extremely well at Louisville. He’s 4-3 with 2.00 ERA overall. He’s allowed 60 hits 67 1/3 innings, while walking nine and striking out 60.

He pitched a three-hit shutout to beat Scranton 1-0 today. He struck out 10 and walked none. He’s allowed a total of three runs in 28 innings over his last four starts.

The Cubs are right-handed dominant team, but Maloney has been tougher on right-handers this season, limiting them to a .209 average.

The Reds got Maloney for Kyle Lohse in July of 2007.

    Re: Who to start?

I've seen soft tossing lefties put up great numbers in AAA too many times before. Browning is the only one I can remember that really made it. Maybe Maloney is different, but I would rather stay with Homer, especially since the next Volquez start falls on his pitching day.

If Homer starts again, the Reds will lose. I think Maloney, at least, gives you a chance. I'm tired of losing and watching Homer lack command. He's not ready. Maloney deserves it. I don't think it's much of a decision.

    Re: Who to start?

I think it's time to bring Maloney up. Let Homer continue to be in AAA to be ready for staying in the Major Leagues.

Maloney. Simply nothing left for him to prove in AAA, time to find out if he can get big league hitters out.

    Re: Who to start?

I chose Maloney. Homer has work to do. Maloney can show what he has or doesn't have for major league hitters. We have to find out sometime.
