But the one error opened the floodgates.

    Re: 6/14/09 Reds vs Royals

The Royals have 5 unearned runs but Cueto got hurt by poor location on two hits last inning (which knocked in 3 runs).

It's not as simple as blaming Hairston. But still, two errors, a papercut difference on a potential double play and a wallbanger in and out of Bruce's glove...

The worm has turned on this one through the smallest of margins.

27 pitches extra, with the primary cause being the 2 errors. Yes Johnny had chances to buck up....but it's not reasonable to ask any starter to put up with 4+ out innings.

Cueto isn't on today....but if he gets through the 5th without allowing a run....he will be leading the National League in ERA. I'm not thinking he's the problem.

It's never the pitching's fault. Ever.

The error led to him having to throw 30+ pitches instead of being out of the inning with under 20 pitches.

He hasn't thrown many pitches in the non error innings.

I never said Cueto was the problem. I said the pitching has been the recipient of some nice defense and luck--therefore, it's unsurprising that they'd be corrected a bit in the AL.

Jacoby has to be wondering about his job with the Cubbies axing Perry today.

Even Hernandez has lost plate patience.....hitting a very low 2-0 pitch into a near DP.

Frank White just called Bruce a throwback Pepsi (read a sweet ballplayer) on Royals FSN

these newfound home runs swings by Taveras and Hairston offer no hope of an offensive resurgence.

Bannister is a legit major league starting pitcher but he's not this good.
