Dorn singled in a run. Now 6-0 Louisville in the 7th inning. Dorn is 3-for-4 with a double and has raised his OPS to .698.

It's a line drive in the boxscore.

    Dorn 3 for 4

I've never bought into that whole 100 pitch magic number thing. I'm more in line with Nolan Ryan's line of thinking.
Strangely, I agree w/ you. At first blush, I thought pull him, but 2nd thought made me think its probably good for his development to continue to learn to pitch while he's tiring. As long as his mechanics are still in order, run him out there another inning, perhaps 2 if he gets thru the 8th quickly.

    He's back out there.

He's past the point where you use kid gloves on him. He can be stretched out as long as he's not tiring.

    Manuel warming apparently.

I think the fact that Homer's pitch counts were well up there his previous starts leads to the reasoning why he should be pulled here before he reaches 100.

Who decided that 100 is the cutoff point? It's become commonplace for managers (pro & minors) to look at 100 as the tipping point for pitch counts. I just don't get it. Homer's a pretty big guy, he's throwing nice and easy with solid mechanics. Every pitchers' should have different cutoff points IMO...this 100 pitch crud just bothers me...probably more than it should, but there it is regardless.

I agree. He had thrown 110+ pitches in three straight starts. I don't see the point in sending him back out there with 98 pitches in seven innings. And now of course he gives up back-to-back one out singles.

Homer just hit 97 MPH with a fastball, then followed it up with a change for a strike.

After getting the first guy, Homer gives up back to back singles. Now I'm all for leaving him in this inning, but he's on a short leash...it's got nothing to do with pitch counts...just that it's late in the game on a hot day and he's just put on two batters.

Homer was at 96 for his last pitch in his last game. (or the one before that one) He wasn't shown any tendency to lose velocity in the later innings.
