Jung Bong, Gabe White, John Riedling, and Mike Matthews combined on a four-hit shutout for the Reds. It was Bong's final major-league appearance. The only hits for the Cardinals were a leadoff single by Mike Matheny in the third inning, a one-out double by Scott Rolen in the fourth, a two-out double by Jim Edmonds in the sixth, and a one-out single by Matheny in the seventh.

    Drysdale against the Reds on June 20th seemed to be a very popular thing.
    The Reds beat him once out of three attempts.
