Should The Reds Take A Flyer On Wily Mo Pena?

Wily Mo has just been released from the NY Mets AAA affiliate along with another former Red Javy Valentin. Should the Reds take another flyer on the 27 yr old Pena?

I say yes on a Minor League contract.

I'd sooner take Javy back. Actually he would have made a nice little fill-in while Votto was unavailable.

He's certainly no worse than McD and has more upside. Couldn't hurt, but probably won't help much ultimately either. Still he's a bit of an upgrade there.

He seems like a lesser version of Jonny Gomes to me. I'd rather the younger guys get at-bats instead of Pena.

Yes. He started off cold and without any pop. This month is OPS is .910 and he seems to be hitting with power. He still draws walks at the same rate as Taveras but why not let him get some AB's in AAA.

Do you want extra entertainment during batting practice?

I think we have too many good young outfielders right now to have him take up a spot. Unless you want to release McDonald and have him take his place.

No, one terrible Willy (or Wily) is enough on one team.

    To who? The Mexican league?
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...
