In Game 2, Tony Perez led off the bottom of the twelfth inning with a game-winning home run off Joe Niekro.

This was my Me and my dad's annual pilgramage to Cincinnati to watch the Reds. My oldest brother who lived in Lawrenceburg Indiana at the time also went and got our tickets. We had Red seat tickets probably no more than five rows from the top directly behind home plate. This was the first time too that I had sat in the Reds seats. I was always scared of heights so I felt uneasy the whole time. I don't remember a lot about the games. I do remember Roric Harrison hitting a HR and feeling almost embarrased that the Reds gave up a HR to a pitcher. Even though he was a pretty good hitting pitcher,IIRC. I also can remember getting the binoculars out sometime during the day to look for Hank Aarron in the dugout. I finally saw him at the edge of the tunnel leading to the clubhouse sneaking a cigarrette. As a kid I was shocked! I couldn't believe the all time HR champ was a smoker. Now I could probably see a player sneaking a steriod shot. I don't think any of us really enjoyed it since we were so high up and we left before the 2nd game was over. I'm sure we arrived back at my brothers home just about the time Perez hit his game winning homer. Those trips to Cincy for Reds games were good times and I always held them special. My dad was very good to me to take me all the way from SE Kentucky to go to a Reds game once a year and I'll always be grateful for that.
