Bailey and Cleveland

Well, Bailey is pitching tonight and Maloney has been sent down. Bailey's next scheduled start should be Saturday when the Reds play. Who wants to bet the Reds call him up again? Is it just coincidence that Bailey keeps appearing before the Indians? His first start, two starts this year. I think Cleavland may be interested in him.

Cleavland also has a couple of AAA prospects Luis Valbuena, who looks like a real hitter. he is a 23 year old 2b man who has played short. He does bat left-handed. Then there is Niuman Romero a 24 year old shortstop who kills left-handed pitching, but struggles with right. I know Delarosa has been mentioned in trade rumors, but could the Reds be after these two instead?

If Bailey's finally figured it out I have no desire watching him blossom in Cleveland. Let him do it here. As for DeRosa, no thanks, especially if the asking price starts with Bailey.

Agreed. I seriously doubt it also. Interested in him for two years and nothing? These two starts (yes, I think he'll start Saturday) just come at the time they are playing them when it would be Volquez going.

Although I'm sure DeRosa could help this club quite a bit, I'd sure hate to give up on a young guy like Bailey for only a decent player in return. If it was a package that also included Sizemore, yeah. But simply adding DeRosa won't make the difference for this team IMHO, and giving up Bailey may be too steep. I think he's still got a lot of potential.

Homer isn't getting traded just yet. Look he is 22 and most people seem to forget that college kids hit the system at that age. He has such a high ceiling. I saw him earlier this year when Louisville was at Toledo and well he had 15 K's. He just has to get it in his head.

As far as DeRosa? Cleveland is really trying to hang on to him. the other night on the radio Tom Hamilton and Mike Heegan were saying how the Tribe feel they are still in it. They are not going to trade Luis Valbuena, they just got him from Seattle and he has filled in nicely for the injured Cabrera.

I say let's keep the faith in Homer. We haven't had a kid like him in ages, let's not ruin it or him.

If Homer has truly turned the corner, and his stats seem to suggest that he has, then there really is no reason for him not be up here.

Bring him up and let him play out the year in the bigs. See what he's got this year.

A sub-5.00 ERA would be fine for the rest of the season.

Maybe my brain has been damaged by watching the Reds for the last 10 plus years, but I never trade a pitcher with the potential of Homer Bailey. The Reds do need hitting badly and he is a good chip but I would rather go more long term and keep the cheaper, potentially better (maybe worse) Bailey and deal an expensive arm.

Homer really has done about as well as can be expected as of late at AAA. Throw him in the rotation and trade Arroyo.

According to Fay, Bailey has learned to throw the split finger fastball... which has turned many Major League careers around.

e’s 4-0 with a 0.46 ERA in his last five starts. He’s gone 38 1/3 innings, allowing 30 hits. He’s walked seven and struck out 38.

I'd like to see Bailey start Saturday and show me he is truly ready. He hasn't shown me that yet. But I am far from ready to give up on a 22 year old. Now some of the other guys (Maloney, RR, Thompson), maybe for the right trade.

Bailey for Derosa is crazy talk. He shouldn't be worth more than AAA filler and us paying the rest of his salary.
